Now NOT is a duck and as such he's used to flying high in the sky, when his stubby little wings will let him. But nothing was preparing him to be a mile above sea level and he's just walking across the street. Denver was certainly a strange town, and not just because of that but also because his friend Zim lived there, and Zim as one of the strangest people he knows.
I mean just how many times does a Duck find himself in dire conditions of being consumed by a cookie monster, which also consumed the Zimster first?
Where did these strange people come from, NOT wondered. Or what caused them to become like this? Zim and his now fiancée Gail, they look like the rest of us:
O.K. - Gail's daughter Kayla May seems normal enough - she even likes Ducks.
Let's explore the source of their strangeness a bit more.
Several theories have been advanced as to why they are the way they are.
Some will tell you they are aliens. NOT checked out the home of one Mindy McConnell, who once housed an alien named Mork in Boulder.
But Zim is no Alien.
Could it be unnatural sounds mutating their brains? A trip to Red Rocks, scene of the PBS concert staple by John Tesh yielded beautiful venues, but no more clues of mind altering sound waves.
Strike the Tesh Factor.
Could they be the result of a government experiment, gone horribly wrong? A visit to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration turned up no untoward experimentation. Just Zim's lunch.
And the National Institute for Standards and Technology simply brought a visit to the cesium clock. On time, yes but not a source of strange behavior.
Maybe it's something in the air, thin as it is. NOT went to check this out but found deep breaths did not bring any new light to this problem.
And a visit to nature, and the beauties of the Rockies only took NOT's breath away more. Beautiful area and all. Not the source of strangeness.
No, considering what he's learned meeting people along the tip with Dave, NOT had to conclude that it was simply a case of Nature over Nurture. Zim is just Zim.
So that solved, NOT hopped his Harley and decided to try and race Dave for a while. Unfortunately, he had a bit of trouble reaching the throttle and brake at the same time. The Easy Rider moment was over.
